On Tuesday Year 12 Geographers visited the Ouseburn in Newcastle to learn about industrial change and rebranding. Through studying old maps and carrying out surveys they saw the impacts of gentrification and considered its impacts on different stakeholders.
They then walked along the Quayside and up to the Helix Centre. They were lucky enough to get a guided tour and even enter the boardroom. A highlight for many geographers was the living wall in the shape of a world map inside this room! This was a great opportunity to learn about places studied this year, and new ones, ahead of starting year 13.
