We’re Back!

Students have been working with subject specialists to clarify Year 12 content, addressing any gaps in their learning and directing them to new content and preparation for Year 13.

All staff have been helping with other students when they can – acting as mentors/guides – directing queries to other members of staff who are on-site and who are available online.

They have also worked on UCAS applications, EPQs and have had an individual 1-1 planning meeting with the Sixth Form team.

English Language have been researching stages of child writing acquisition and what to look for when evaluating an example of early writing. Art have been working one-to-one with students to support them with the development of their ideas for the Art personal investigation.

Chemistry completed an Ionic Equations recap and also discussed the topics they have been assigned for pre-reading ready for Y13.  In Sociology – students explored whether the law should give authority to communities to pass their own punishments for crimes committed in their area.

In Psychology students have been focusing on 7 consolidation tasks for the unit ‘Approaches’.

Meanwhile, biologists consolidated their home learning in school this week. We reviewed their learning of New Year 13 content – the light-dependent and independent reactions of photosynthesis and addressed misconceptions. Students have worked very hard at home and we were able to move through the topic very effectively in class. Well done!

Year 12 teaching will be complemented by online lessons from every subject w/c 29th June and Year 12 have a full revision and preparation package ready for them over the summer – this will be issued in school and be sent out to those who are unable to join us at this time.
