We welcomed Rose Firth from the SMBP (Social Mobility Business Partnership) along with Jane Taylor and Lynsey McCabe from the Elephant Group, and Catherine Boland from the Careers & Enterprise Company, to talk to invited Year 12 students about the amazing work experience opportunity that is open to students this summer in Sunderland. Rose explained the entry requirements and the types of activities that students will take part in during their week long experience. The students will participate in a week-long work insight and skills experience in which they are given the opportunity to spend a day at four different businesses; in addition, they attend a day run by a professional sports club to learn about the psychology of resilience and goal achievement models. Finally, students have access to virtual Career Mentoring from legal, accountancy and business professionals. Our volunteers are on hand to help with creating Personal Statements/CVs, compiling application forms and preparing for interviews. For more information and to apply, visit their website smbp.org.uk
