Engineering is the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures. It involves the use of techniques and processes used to engineer a solution to a particular problem.
Entry Requirements
Grade 4 preferably including English Language, Grade 5 in Mathematics and a Grade 5 Product Design or related GCSE.
Course Year 1
Unit 1: Engineering Principles.
- Apply mathematical and physical science principles to solve electrical-, electronic- and mechanical-based engineering problems. Two hour externally set written exam.
Unit 2: Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team.
- Explore how processes are undertaken by teams to create engineered products or to deliver engineering services safely. Internally set series of tasks.
Course Year 2
Unit 3: Engineering Product Design and Manufacture.
- A task externally set and marked, and completed under supervised conditions.
Optional Unit.
- Internally set series of tasks.
