On Wednesday, Year 12 spent the day at the University of Sunderland to build and develop their academic skills and have a taster of learning at University level. We were welcomed into the newly updated Murray Health building where students learned more about the university and student life. Students were then split into two groups to take part in some academic taster sessions in a range of students, led by academic staff from the university. Students interested in nursing/midwifery, physiotherapy/sport, pharmacy and psychology remained at City Campus, whilst those students interested in Film/Media/Journalism, Business and law were transported across to the St Peter’s Campus. As part of the academic taster sessions and the campus tour, students were able to see and use some of the fantastic facilities from across the campus, from the immersive Nursing suite, Pharmacy laboratories, Law court room, business suite to the Journalism media hub. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and left with much to think about. We are incredibly grateful to the university for the opportunity to host our students on campus for the day.
