Southmoor Academy’s Sixth Form football team made history by securing victory in their first ever competitive game against another school, beating Lanchester St Bede’s 4–1 away from home in a fantastic team performance!
From the first whistle, the team demonstrated outstanding determination, teamwork and commitment, showing great character and a real desire to win. Playing away from home, the boys rose to the challenge, combining attacking quality with defensive resilience to produce an excellent result.
The goals were shared between the team, with Steven scoring twice, alongside goals from Morland and Harry. The attacking play was full of energy and confidence, with the team taking their chances well to secure an impressive 4–1 victory.
Special recognition goes to Player of the Match, Luke, who was an absolute rock at the back. His strength, composure and determination helped keep the opposition at bay and provided a solid foundation for the team’s success.
While the goals and individual performances deserve plenty of praise, what stood out most was the attitude of the whole squad. The players showed resilience, discipline, sportsmanship and a willingness to work hard for one another. They supported each other throughout the game and demonstrated the importance of playing as a team.
The boys were an absolute pleasure to take to the game and represented Southmoor Academy brilliantly. Their behaviour, attitude and commitment both on and off the pitch showed the school in a hugely positive light, and they should all be incredibly proud of themselves.
This victory is a fantastic milestone for Southmoor Sixth Form football and a reward for the effort and enthusiasm shown by the players. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of many more successes to come!
Congratulations to the whole squad on a brilliant 4–1 win. You have done Southmoor proud!
