This half term, our Sixth Form students will take part in a dedicated session delivered by the Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service during their Aspire lessons. The session is designed to raise awareness about the risks associated with open water and to equip students with practical knowledge to stay safe. Topics will include recognising the dangers of open water, understanding the effects of Cold Water Shock, and learning essential water safety tips. Students will also explore how to respond effectively if someone finds themselves in trouble in the water, including the importance of staying calm, calling for help, and using safe rescue techniques. This informative session aims to empower students with the skills and confidence to act responsibly around water environments.
